Get active each day<\/strong><br \/>\nRegular physical activity is important for the healthy growth, development and well-being of children and young people.<br \/>\nThey should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day, including vigorous activities that make them \u2018huff and puff\u2019.<br \/>\nInclude activities that strengthen muscles and bones on at least 3 days of the week.<br \/>\nParents should be good role models and have a positive attitude to being active.<br \/>\n<strong>2. Choose water as a drink<\/strong><br \/>\nWater is the best way to quench your thirst \u2013 and it doesn\u2019t come with the added sugar found in fruit juices, soft drinks and other sweetened drinks.<br \/>\nReduced fat milk for children over two is a nutritious drink and a great source of calcium.<br \/>\nGive kids whole fruit to eat, rather than offering fruit juices that have a lot of sugar.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.thedolcediet.com\/collections\/personalized-plans-certifications\/products\/dolce-diet-personalized-my-diet-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-16777\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/custom-diet-plan-Dolce-Diet-440x440.jpg\" alt=\"custom-diet-plan-Dolce-Diet\" width=\"340\" height=\"340\"><\/a><strong>3. Eat more fruit and vegetables<\/strong><br \/>\nEating fruit and vegetables every day helps children grow and develop, boosts their vitality and can reduce the risk of many chronic diseases.<br \/>\nAim to eat two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables every day.<br \/>\nHave fresh fruit available as a convenient snack and try to include fruit and vegies in every meal.<br \/>\n<strong>4. Switch off the screen and get active<\/strong><br \/>\nSedentary or \u2018still\u2019 time spent watching TV, surfing online or playing computer games is linked to kids becoming overweight or obese.<br \/>\nChildren and young people should spend no more than two hours a day on \u2018small screen\u2019 entertainment. Break up long periods of use as often as possible.<br \/>\nPlan a range of active indoor and outdoor games or activities for your children, as alternatives to watching TV or playing on the computer.<br \/>\n<strong>5.
