Support Locally Grown Foods<br \/>\n<\/strong>While supporting small, sustainable farms and businesses, you\u2019re also getting a better understanding of where your food is coming from.<br \/>\n<strong>2. Get Second Opinions<br \/>\n<\/strong>Don\u2019t rely on the diagnosis of one physician. More importantly, when it comes to nutrition, most doctors have taken 0-1 courses in nutrition. Doctors are the experts in their respective field, but their schooling just doesn\u2019t focus on nutrition. For sound nutrition advice, seek out a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.<br \/>\n<strong>3. Don\u2019t Buy Into \u201cTrendy\u201d Diets or Fitness Regimens<br \/>\n<\/strong>Do what works for you, not everyone else. And research different foods, preparation, exercises and all things health-related to make an informed decision. Don\u2019t be a sheep and follow the crowd. Be a wolf.<br \/>\n<strong>4. Invest in Your Health by Investing in Your Food<br \/>\n<\/strong>Yes, healthy food tends to be more expensive, but think of it as investing in your health. Besides a slightly higher grocery bill is certainly cheaper than any hospital bill.<br \/>\n<strong>5. Health Starts in the Kitchen<br \/>\n<\/strong>You simply can\u2019t out-exercise a bad diet. As the saying goes, \u201chealth is 20% exercise\/fitness and 80% diet\u201d. Fuel yourself properly in order to maximize your potential in the gym, and everything will fall into place.<br \/>\n<strong>6. Walk the Walk!<br \/>\n<\/strong>If you are against GMOs, buy organic. If you say you eat Earth-grown nutrients, make sure you\u2019re doing it.<br \/>\n<strong>7. Look for SHORT ingredient lists<br \/>\n<\/strong>5 ingredients or less is what\u2019s ideal to look for on an ingredient list. There are of course some exceptions. Certain foods do require binding agents to keep the product together or yield a certain texture. Once you start getting into the teens or ingredients that you can\u2019t even pronounce, then you\u2019re in trouble. Hint hint: aspartame and acesulfame-k on the ingredient list of sodas is \u201cEqual\u201d \u2013 blue packet \u2013 and \u201cNutriSweet\u201d, both artificial sweeteners.<br \/>\n<strong>8. Listen to Your Body<br \/>\n<\/strong>Our bodies have a unique way of protecting us and compensating to keep us healthy. Those cravings are usually a sign that you need nutrients! Listen to it and nourish it!<br \/>\n<strong>9. Adequate Nutrients = Adequate Food<br \/>\n<\/strong>Don&#8217;t restrict your calories! You need to eat to feed the body properly in order to carry out necessary metabolic functions, not just to look good in a bikini.<br \/>\n<strong>10. Think Like a Hunter<br \/>\n<\/strong>Hunters didn\u2019t douse their foods in processed chemicals and \u201cfake\u201d versions of different foods, and why should you?
